Fermor Mark’s “Oscar’s Night”

Tuesday 6th December was “Oscar’s Night” at Duke Street, Southport, when Fermor Mark rolled out the red carpet and Advanced Brother Charles Oscar Gibbs into the Mark Degree.

It was a busy night all around, but some last-minute cry-offs required some hasty substitutions and eventually there was a full team of Lodge Officers. One Officer, who had been unable to attend the Installation Paul Iddon was collared and invested as Senior Deacon and a few minutes later was conducting Bro Gibbs around the Lodge during the Ceremony of Advancement. A role he performed with a sure footedness, which was a credit to him.
Truly festive festive board
Mention should also be made, that aside from the Working Tools, delivered by W. Bro Alan Foster, the Worshipful Master, W. Bro Ted Dickenson performed the rest of the ceremony himself, with great skill and dexterity.

Despite the movie references, Brother Gibbs was not wearing dark glasses to guard himself from any approaching glare, but had had cataracts removed the previous day, so credit also to him for completing the ceremony.

The whole evening was a great success, both members and a healthy number of guests having a wonderfully enjoyable evening.
